Understanding the basics of fertility treatment success rates
Your fertility treatment success rates are dependent on you, your fertility clinic and the type of treatment you receive. When you see one of our San Antonio fertility experts, you will notice that your doctor will take a detailed medical and pregnancy history from both you and your partner. Evaluating this information, in light of our clinic’s success rates for each type of treatment, will enable our San Antonio fertility specialists to develop a customized plan for you that will optimize your chances of rapidly conceiving a healthy pregnancy.
Fertility treatment success rates: You
Fertility treatment success rates vary from patient to patient. Your fertility treatment success will depend upon your age, how long you’ve been trying to conceive and other medical conditions, including previous pelvic infections, your weight and your general health.
One of our San Antonio fertility experts may need to perform blood work to evaluate your ovarian reserve (how many eggs you have left) and a pelvic ultrasound to assess your ovarian size, as well as the size and shape of your uterus. He or she may also order a hysterosalpingogram, or HSG, to evaluate your uterine cavity and make sure that your fallopian tubes are open.
At least one semen analysis (sperm test) will also need to be performed on your male partner in order to assess his fertility potential.
Fertility treatment success rates: Your clinic
Texas Fertility Center has a 30+ year history of outstanding fertility treatment success rates. In addition to excellent chances of pregnancy with medications or intrauterine insemination, our IVF pregnancy rates are among the highest in the country. We take a team approach, combining the expertise of our San Antonio fertility experts and the laboratory specialists at Ovation® Fertility, to give our patients consistently high success rates with each treatment offered.
Fertility treatment success rates: Your treatment
Fertility treatment is all about choosing the right treatment for your particular circumstances. The choices your physician will offer depend on your diagnosis and your age, as well as non-medical factors such as your insurance coverage and your sense of urgency.
In general, eggs can develop in three ways–naturally, with the assistance of pills or with help from injections. There are also three ways to combine the sperm and the eggs–naturally through intercourse, with intrauterine insemination (IUI) or with in vitro fertilization (IVF). Pregnancy rates tend to increase with more aggressive types of treatment, as does the cost.
Interestingly, while the risk of multiple pregnancy increases as we progress from pills to injectable medications, it actually declines with IVF. Our San Antonio fertility experts typically only transfer one to two embryos per IVF cycle.
Our San Antonio fertility specialists will thoroughly evaluate your history and the results of your diagnostic testing in order to determine your personalized success rate with each treatment. He or she will work closely with you to recommend the right treatment for you from the start. Our goal is to help you successfully conceive a healthy baby as quickly and cost effectively as possible.
