Dreams Come True – Conceiving With IUI

Traci and David struggle to welcome a baby on their own before conceiving with IUI

Traci and David struggle to welcome a baby on their own before conceiving with IUIPregnancy doesn’t always happen naturally. Just ask Traci and David, who came to visit Erika Munch MD to learn about conceiving with IUI (intrauterine insemination). “We had been trying for a while on our own, but it just wasn’t working. I realized I was getting older, so I thought it was time to look for help,” Traci explains.

Like most people, Traci did some online research before deciding to visit our San Antonio fertility doctor. “I read online reviews like everyone does and saw how much people loved Dr. Munch. That made me decide to schedule an appointment,” she says.

From the first appointment to conceiving with IUI

Traci and David struggle to welcome a baby on their own before conceiving with IUIThe couple felt nervous before their first appointment with our San Antonio fertility doctor. According to Traci, “We weren’t sure what to expect, but Dr. Munch put us at ease. She is down-to-earth, caring and understanding. She took the time to explain our options and what would happen next.”

After some testing and discussion, Traci and David decided to start their fertility journey at Texas Fertility Center (TFC) with IUI. This procedure involves using a catheter to place washed and prepared sperm in the female patient’s uterus. The goal is to give the sperm a bit of a “head start” to reach the egg.

It turns out that conceiving with IUI was successful for the couple on the first attempt. “Dr. Munch said we were the poster children for fertility,” Traci laughs.

They decided to name the precious bundle of joy Mika, after Traci’s late brother. “My brother passed away two weeks before Mika’s birth, so in a way, he lives on through my son,” Traci explains.

Encouraging other hopeful parents to keep trying

You might not get pregnant on your first try, but it is possible,” she says.

The couple also recommends that other hopeful parents visit our San Antonio fertility doctor. “Our experience with TFC was wonderful. Dr. Munch and her team were so helpful and supportive. They took excellent care of us and answered all our questions. They were also there to celebrate the exciting milestones with us. I’d recommend them to anyone,” Traci explains.
